"If we were able to provide everyone with the right amount of nourishment and physical exercise, neither in defect nor in excess, we would have found the way to health" so said Ippocrate.
A phrase full of meaning, known by any professional working in the wellness sector: the phrase that embodies the essence of the healthy lifestyle.
Yet, even today, this seemingly elementary concept seems to be ignored by most people and "dieting" becomes something to be seen as highly limiting, negative and difficult to accept.
Following a diet serves not only to lose excess kg but also and, above all, to educate to a diet that is healthy and complete.
The secret is that there are no secrets; just eat well!!!
The wrong diet, the symptoms of not undergoing incorrect nutritional attitudes, protracted over time, alter and compromise, in fact, various mechanisms and favor the onset of the most disparate problems such as, for example, chronic inflammation, dysmetabolisms, increases in adipose mass, stress, intestinal disorders etc ..
To aggravate the situation there is also a very high level of sedentary lifestyle both among adults and in young people who are increasingly lazy, listless, immersed in a virtual world detached from concrete reality.
A reversal of the trend is therefore necessary, also looking at the past; to Hippocrates who had seen us along..
Eating consciously and maintaining an active lifestyle: an act of love for oneself
Diet and training in a bilateral cyclic relationship.
This is how, from my point of view, we can observe them; linked to each other and necessary to be there.
Let's try to initially focus on nutrition in order to understand what to do and how to do it when sport also takes over.
A well-fed and healthy body is, undoubtedly, performing in many respects, including those that bring tangible benefits during sports: more energy, concentration, faster recovery and optimal rest.
It is training that justifies the adoption of a specific nutritional regimen at the expense of another. Frequency, duration, type of sport, lifestyle, body composition, physiology, represent all the variables to be taken into account when a dietary protocol is drawn up.
It becomes important to understand which energy substrate to prevail, the timing of intake, the quality of the food itself. Nothing should be left to chance.
Nutrition must provide the athlete with an intake of calories and targeted nutrients to support training in an optimal way and improve performance in the long run
It is not possible to determine the prevalence of one aspect over the other although it is clear that, even by adopting the best of possible diets, without the trigger dictated by a good workout, the results are late in coming and can be, in any case, very mild.
A matter of priorities and perspectives
For a person who practices sports and movement without particular goals, I would recommend optimizing eating habits. Conversely, when you set yourself a goal to reach, agonists or not, I am in favor of structuring an ad hoc training program which will be followed by a functional diet.
Are there in-between ways?
Certainly yes because there is not only white or black and I am referring, in particular, to those who want to obtain results, are committed to this but without the need to go extreme.
It is here that training and nutrition become two concepts that run parallel and necessary.
All a question, I repeat, of perspectives..
