Food is good not only for the body but also for our mood.
Many foods are able to make us really happy because are rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
In addition to having important nutritional properties for the body, also have a beneficial effect on our mental well-being and among them there is not only chocolate!

They are known as mood foods and are the foods that can influence our moods, put us in a good mood and make us happy.
The first to discover this effect was Jean Anthelme Savarin; a French gastronome who in his treatise Physiology of taste theorized that a person's mood is determined precisely by what he eats.
Foods with bright and fragrant colors manage to bring joy as well as the preparation of meals and the right time spent in the kitchen are actions that can stimulate our creativity and give us well-being.

Eating well and healthy allows for optimal digestion and rest and the mood is also beneficial

But what are the foods that can make us happy?

Chocolate

Rich in antioxidants, the first place could not fail to be occupied by dark chocolate and its release of endorphins; hormones that can reduce stress and fight depression.
A real natural antidepressant which, to give its benefits, must contain at least 70% cocoa.
Its aroma is able to increase serotonin levels and being rich in theobromine it has a stimulating effect on mood.

Oat flour

Food rich in vitamin B, folic acid and zinc, it turns out to be a valid ally to always keep in your pantry.
Its nutrients are, in fact, useful for raising the mood, giving us energy and fighting anxious states.
It can be inserted in breakfast but also for a snack in the form of pancakes, biscuits or porridge.

Walnuts, almonds and hazelnuts

In third place we find dried fruit which with its minerals manages to keep the mood high.
The magnesium of which it is rich allows to give the body a feeling of relaxation that leads to rest well by fighting states of nervousness. Selenium also has an antidepressant action and acts against fatigue and anxiety.
Usually, its recommended as a snack both to reduce hunger but also to keep the mood stable.

Its possible that many foods are already present in your kitchen but remember that they must always be included in a healthy and boiled food plan

Berries

Blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, cherries rich in antioxidants, contain a high content of serotonin which elevates the mood and also improves concentration.
In addition, they improve the tone and elasticity of blood vessels, promoting relaxation.

Another important vitamin that helps maintain a high mood is vitamin D synthesized from sunlight and which must be introduced into the body through food.
So green light to fatty fish!

Salmon, mackerel and sardines but also mussels..

In addition to being rich in vitamin D, they also contain Omega 3 which are essential to keep bones and heart healthy but also to stimulate the production of serotonin.
Mussels contain high amounts of vitamin B, selenium, zinc and iodine. The latter, in particular, supports the thyroid and helps regulate not only weight but also mood.

Bananas

A real concentrate of energy that comes from the carbohydrates contained in them but also from vitamins B6, C and A, magnesium, phosphorus, iron and potassium.
A fruit rich in tryptophan; an essential amino acid that cannot be synthesized by the body and therefore must necessarily be taken through food.
In addition to participating in the synthesis of proteins, this nutrient is the precursor of serotonin; the hormone that improves mood and makes us happy.

The relationship between food and emotions has always been known and learning about the foods we bring to the table and managing them in the best possible way is a way to stay healthy and maintain mental well-being.
