We all know that our body is 60% water on average, so it goes without saying that keeping well hydrated is essential to be healthy and in good condition.. Water, of course, is also found in several foods that are ingested during the day: fruits, vegetables are the main sources of natural hydration along with the water we drink.

To maintain optimal levels of body hydration experts recommend drinking at least 2 litres of water per day and consuming fresh fruits and vegetables that, in fact, are foods with a high content of water, vitamins and minerals.

The benefits of hydration

Knowing the role that hydration plays on our health enables us to understand its fundamental functions.

Proper hydration is essential:

- for the kidneys, because it allows them to work better;
- for our brain, because cognitive performance is positively affected by adequate hydration
- because it affects the regulation of blood pressure, therefore, it is good for the heart.

Thanks to proper hydration are obtained, under normal conditions, in the absence of other particular diseases, the regulation of body temperature, support for metabolism, as well as, helps easier disposal of toxins, contributing also to maintain the correct elasticity and tonicity of muscles and joints.

Another important aspect of proper hydration is that the same, favours the correct intestinal transit, in fact, the water together with the fibre is ideal to fight constipation that very often can be just a result of dehydration.

The correct hydration acts at all levels on the well-being of our body and gives us more energy.

If we do not insist on particular pathologies, our organism eliminates about 2 liters of water per day and, at particular moments such as intense physical activity, climate, ambient temperature and some particular physical conditions, may increase the loss of liquids and minerals, which will then be important to restore.

The loss of fluids due to sweat, in fact, if not adequately reintegrated, leads to a hydro-saline imbalance.

What is the hydro-saline balance?

Proper hydration, by definition, also implies an adequate supply of mineral salts, inorganic compounds fundamental for our health.

The mineral salts are introduced into our body thanks to the food we select and eat and the water we drink.

There are climatic conditions or dietary regimes that can lead to excessive dispersion or a lack of mineral salts, so to prevent this from happening, it can be recommended:

- drink plenty of water while avoiding processed, sweetened, alcoholic and gas drinks;
- choose foods rich in water and mineral salts such as vegetables and fruits

In summer, especially when you do sports, or in general at times of increased sweating and need, you can resort to hydro-saline integration to make up for any deficiencies.

There is a wide variety of products for hydro-saline integration and a fundamental role always covers Magnesium which is an essential mineral involved in virtually all body functions. In addition, potassium is one of the most important minerals in rehydration during and after physical activity, it maintains normal blood pressure levels.

Whatever the physical activity, especially if extremely demanding and intense, it is necessary to ensure correct hydro-saline hydration also choosing the product qualitatively valid with a real bioavailability of the desired active ingredient.

Hydration and beauty of the skin

Hydration is also the watchword for elastic, radiant and healthy skin.
Well-hydrated skin is healthier, brighter and less exposed to skin ageing.

Another factor to consider in the summer period, with more or less voluntary sun exposure to sunlight, is that such exposure requires greater hydration of the skin to keep it healthy and hydrated.

Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin E, are all supplements able to promote the hydration of the skin because they have very important functions such as holding the water molecules releasing them in a prolonged way towards the deeper layers, perform an emollient action, soothing and antioxidant counteracting the formation of wrinkles and loss of elasticity.
